Do I need an account?

No. Camp Expert works the moment you open it — there's no sign-up and no login.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Over 4,000 federal campgrounds from Recreation.gov are built right into the app, and all your trips live on your device. Live search for state, county, and private parks needs a connection, but the built-in catalog and your data work anywhere.

Where do the campgrounds come from?

Federal campgrounds come from Recreation.gov (the Recreation Information Database). Live "Near Me" and name search results come from OpenStreetMap. Each campground is tagged Federal, State, County, City, or Private.

How accurate are the mileage and drive-time estimates?

They're rough estimates based on straight-line distance at about 50 mph, clearly labeled as estimates — handy for planning, not turn-by-turn navigation. Tap "Open in Apple Maps" on any campground for real directions.

Can I share a trip with family?

Yes. "Share with Family" sends a trip's itinerary, checklists, and reminders through Messages or Mail. (This sends a snapshot — it isn't live, real-time collaboration.)

Does Camp Expert track my location?

No. The app uses approximate location only, to find nearby campgrounds, and never tracks you. See our Privacy Policy.

Which devices are supported?

Camp Expert is a universal app for iPhone and iPad, with Light, Dark, and an Automatic theme that follows the time of day.
