Privacy Policy

Camp Expert does not collect, store, or share your personal data. Your trips, campgrounds, checklists, reminders, and notes stay on your device and sync across your devices through your personal iCloud account. That data is managed by Apple — the Camp Expert team never has access to it. There is no Camp Expert account, no analytics, and no third-party trackers.

What stays on your device

Everything you create in Camp Expert — trips, saved campgrounds, ratings, favorite sites, checklists, reminders, diary entries, and settings — is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. We never receive a copy of it.

iCloud sync

When you're signed in to iCloud, Camp Expert also syncs your data across your own devices using Apple's CloudKit and your personal iCloud account. This data is kept in your private iCloud database, which is governed by Apple's privacy policy and managed entirely by Apple. The Camp Expert team cannot access, read, or share it. iCloud sync is optional — if you're not signed in to iCloud, everything simply stays on your device.

What's sent when you search

When you search for campgrounds, your approximate location and the text you type are sent to OpenStreetMap (the Overpass API) and to Apple (MapKit / geocoding) only to return search results. We do not store this information, and it is not linked to your identity. Camp Expert uses approximate location only — it never requests your precise location and does not track you.

What we do not collect

No name, email, phone number, or contacts
No analytics or usage data
No advertising identifiers (no IDFA)
No crash-reporting SDK that transmits data
No Camp Expert account or login (iCloud sync uses your own Apple ID)

Children's privacy

Camp Expert is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the date above.
